what is the chattanooga free store?

The Chattanooga Free Store is a mutual aid organization located at 1701 Dodson Avenue, Suite C. We operate a storefront where anyone can access things like clothing, food, sexual health items, harm reduction supplies, and more, all for free, and without having to fill out a form or show an ID.

Our organization is non-religious, completely volunteer-run, and we’re funded by small donations from hundreds of community members. We opened the store to create a space where anyone, especially marginalized people, could get the things they need and find community without being preached at or shamed.

We are open every week for folks to shop our free closet and to get reproductive health and harm reduction items, and on the fourth Saturday of each month, we distribute free diapers, hygiene items, household essentials, and more. We also have classes, meetings, and other events – you can find all that on our calendar. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via the contact button!
